At Platt Park Veterinary Hospital, we believe vaccination plans should be as unique as your pet. We don’t believe in over-vaccinating, under-protecting, or handing you a generic list of shots without a conversation. Instead, we take the time to understand your pet’s lifestyle, environment, and health history, because a couch-loving cat and a mountain-hiking pup have very different needs.
Denver’s active, outdoor lifestyle brings its own set of risks (hello, ticks and wildlife!), and we’re here to help you navigate them with thoughtful, targeted vaccine recommendations. Whether you’ve got a new puppy, a traveling adult dog, or a senior kitty with chronic health issues, we’ll craft a vaccination plan that makes sense, for their life and for yours.
Let’s talk about what your pet really needs. Call us at (303) 879-1090 or click below to book a vaccine consultation today.
Vaccines for Denver Dogs
Core Vaccines
These core vaccines are important for all dogs to receive, except if their health status otherwise contraindicates vaccination, as they protect against severe, potentially fatal, infectious diseases:
Noncore Vaccines
Noncore vaccines are selected for your dog’s vaccination program based on their lifestyle, exposure risk, and health status. Dogs who spend more time in wooded areas or around other dogs and wildlife should receive the following vaccines:
Vaccines for Colorado Cats
Core Vaccines
Regardless of whether your cat stays strictly indoors or has the freedom to come and go, core vaccines are essential for all cats and include:
Noncore Vaccines
The only noncore vaccine for cats is the feline leukemia vaccine. This vaccine can fall in either category, as it’s considered a core vaccine for kittens and adult cats with unknown vaccination status, but noncore for adult cats who have received the kitten vaccination series. If your cat is exposed to other cats, they should be vaccinated for feline leukemia to protect against this serious disease.
